"Prelude..." 2013. Multi-screen Video Installation. Variable Dimensions.
"Prelude: Surely I dream'd to-day, or did I see" 2013. Large Scale Multi-Screen Video Installation. Variable Dimensions “Prelude” is the first act of a collaboration series between Antonia Dias Leite and Amelie Chabannes composed of multi-channel video installations recalling moving panoramas from the 19th century. The project investigates glacial landscapes as a metaphor for the individual and the cyclical states of its subconscious, as well as the process and practice involving collaboration work. (time-lapse sequences by Luc Moreau, Glaciologist)
The Installation aspect of this project recalls the moving panoramas of the 19th century, the very first attempts of motion illusions. It is the ancestor of film, at the peak of the romantic era and first mountains explorations. They produced an outlet for travel and escapism. The formal and conceptual aspect of the project attempts to comment on the evolution of time-based mediums as well as the perception involved.
